Best Destinations to Beat The Cold This Winter

As the mercury drops, many RVers start chasing 70. The beauty of a home on wheels is the ability to create the environment you want around your rig. Even though four-season campers can take the cold, it’s usually a good deal more fun to roll to sun-soaked locales for the colder months.

That’s why we put together this post featuring the best destinations to beat the cold this winter. We’ll stay focused on spots in the Southwest, Florida, and Texas because these tend to be the favorite winter spots for our RVing folk. Let’s jump in and get you on the road before the ice sets in.

Best Winter RVing Destinations: The Southwest

What The Southwest might lack in beaches, it makes up for with gorgeous mountains, epic canyons, and towering red rocks. Here are our favorite winter RV destinations in this part of the country.

St. George Utah

St. George clocks in over 300 days of sunshine every year and features average January/February highs in the 60s (Fahrenheit). This spot in southwest Utah also puts you in a prime location for a Mighty Five road trip where you can explore majestic national parks like Zion and Arches

Arches National Park

Best RV park in St. George? Our favorite is the St. George Hurricane KOA. We also put together this list of some other top RV parks in the St. George area.

Cottonwood/Sedona, AZ

Northern Arizona is a fun alternative to the ‘typical’ winter RV destinations around Phoenix and Tucson. While it might get slightly colder up there, the winters are still very enjoyable with plenty of sunshine and high temps in the 60s/70s.

Our favorite zone is the Cottonwood/Sedona area where you can live among things like beautiful red rocks, the Coconino National Forest, and hip mountain towns like Jerome, AZ.

Best RV park in Cottonwood/Sedona? Our favorite winter destination RV park in this area is the Verde Valley RV and Camping Resort. Part of the Thousand Trails network, this campground has a winery in its backyard, features a meandering creek, and provides easy access to area sites.

Josh and his wife traveled around the country in an '88 Airstream for 4+ years of full-time RVing. They made an unexpected pitstop in Montana in 2020 and haven't left since. That's because they got hooked on the glamping resort they run by Glacier National Park. Fittingly, they keep up their RVing love by renting out vintage Airstreams and other retro RVs to travelers hitting Montana.
