A resident of the city of Miami, Omar Bendezú bought his first campervan in order to escape into nature whenever he pleased.
“We decided to get a campervan because my wife and I like traveling and my wife enjoys rock climbing,” Bendezú says. “It was a way to get out of the city.” Buying a campervan was a clever move, but his next move would prove to be even smarter.
A great idea
Soon after purchasing his first van, Bendezú realized other people would also love to experience the freedom a campervan provides. Unfortunately, campervan rentals are not nearly as commonplace for Florida residents as they are on the west coast, meaning many renters are stuck renting bigger rigs.
“We saw that many people want to do something different,” Bendezú says, “so this was the perfect product for a different choice.”
It turns out Bendezú was quite right about this. In a little over a year and a half, the clever entrepreneur has grown his fleet to include four customized—and wonderfully colorful—vans, and his business, Ondevan, has brought in a total revenue of more than $100K. Ondevan is now Bendezú’s full-time job, meaning he makes a great living doing what he loves: helping people enjoy the great state of Florida.

Not only has Julio been able to grow an amazing business through Outdoorsy, the experience has also ushered in a number of other great opportunities. For instance, he and his rental company recently won the 2018 InnovaRock pitch competition.
“My business is fun and interesting—that’s why I won,” Bendezú says. “Van rentals are newer here, so it’s pretty different.” On Facebook, he posted about his win, saying “Without Outdoorsy, it might not have been true! Thanks guys.”
In addition to that awesome win, he has also had opportunities presented in the form of Outdoorsy’s RV Owner Community Facebook group.
“There was a guy I met on the Outdoorsy Facebook group and he came to Miami and he builds campers. I contacted him and we became friends,” Bendezú says. The two keep in touch and even collaborate on builds from time to time.

When asked why he chose and continues to chose Outdoorsy to rent out his campervans, Bendezú had nothing but good things to say. “It’s because of the customer support and the assistance. You can contact someone and get help straight away,” he says. “I also love the insurance because customers can trust it.”
