Amber Córdoba and her husband had always been tent campers, but when planning for their 4th of July family camping trip in 2017—now with a 1-year-old son in tow—they decided to rent an RV instead.
“We knew we needed air conditioning and a safe place for him to nap,” Amber says. “Once we experienced RV camping, there was absolutely no turning back!”
Amber and her husband Jon were hooked on RVing, which meant—when they decided to buy one—they needed to find the ideal rig.
“Jon did some exhaustive searching for the RV that was going to be the best fit for us,” Amber says. “We knew we wanted a bunkhouse so that we could put the pack-and-play in there and have space for our adult children. We wanted a kitchen with a good amount of kitchen space and a U-shaped dinette. Finally, we needed all that at a weight our Ford F-150 could tow. It took a while, but Jon was persistent and finally found it!”
Of course, that perfect RV didn’t come free, or cheap, so finding out they were able to recover costs by renting their RV on Outdoorsy was a wonderful discovery.
“[We’ve made] enough that we haven’t had to make a single loan payment since we started renting a little over a year ago,” Amber says. “The bookings started coming in pretty immediately. I think we waited maybe two or three weeks max.”
Amber went on to explain that she believes Jon’s work finding the perfect trailer may play a role in their rental success.
“I think that the separate bunkhouse stands out because it really offers separation for kids or couples,” she says. The lighter weight of the trailer is also a bonus for renters.
So far, Amber has loved renting on Outdoorsy.
“I love that Outdoorsy has everything managed from one spot,” she says. “We have our rentals, payment, insurance, and contracts all in one place—and I am really excited about the new [Outdoorsy Owner] app!”
She also appreciates the respectful Outdoorsy clientele.
“Initially we were afraid that renters would damage the RV or not take care of it the way we would,” she says. “I’m happy to report that our renters have actually been extremely respectful and I have been pleased with how well the RV has held up over the last year plus.”
