For years, Outdoorsy owner Mylee Brown wished to go on adventures with a home on wheels. “I have always dreamed of having a ‘Hippy Van,’” Mylee tells us. Not one to sit around and wait for luck to work things out, Mylee made her own dream come true. “I bought my van with the intention of creating a rental business,” she says. She did this because she knew renting the rig would cover the cost of ownership.
When deciding where to rent her dream tiny home, Mylee trusted Outdoorsy with her investment. “I chose Outdoorsy because it is very user-friendly and popular,” Brown explains. “We have had great renters through Outdoorsy, and we love having access to roadside assistance and insurance. Renting is always scary, but Outdoorsy makes us feel as safe as we can.”
Listing on Outdoorsy proved to be a smart move. “About a month after listing, I had my first rental request,” Mylee shares. Since then, she’s sent her van out many times while maintaining her 5-star rating. “We have really liked some of our renters,” she says when asked about those she’s sent her rig out with. “We have had quite a few repeat customers, which we love!”
Mylee’s keys to success? Well, we’re guessing her adorable van and excellent location in beautiful Utah have something to do with it. Her thoughts? “Good pictures and good service make a HUGE difference,” she tells us.
The entrepreneur also shares that she thinks those considering renting out their RVs should go for it. “Do it,” she says. “It’s so much fun, but it is a lot of work.”
According to Mylee, the goal of her business is to “provide renters a means for adventure.” That said, this adventure-loving lady doesn’t leave herself out of the picture; she makes sure to take her “hippie van” on plenty of trips of her own. Her favorite? “We took the van to Lake Powell for a week with our family, and it was magical,” she recalls.
