As a registered nurse, Outdoorsy owner Linda Lampe originally purchased her travel trailer in order to experience travel nursing. Soon enough, she realized other people might want the chance to try their hand at RVing too, so she jumped into the rental business. “I wanted to offer others the opportunity to try RV life before purchasing their own RVs,” she says. “It can also be nice to have that occasional weekend off without the expense of owning an RV.”
So she began the search for the right rental platform. When asked why she landed on Outdoorsy, Linda replies, “Outdoorsy has a great presentation and is easy to deal with. I also feel comfortable with the screening of renters.”
Within a month of listing on Outdoorsy, Linda began getting rental requests and is now so busy she sometimes has to turn renters down. “I have to actually limit my rentals due to work,” she explains. “I’m more into this to keep my rig exercised than to make a lot of money. I also like to help others see how much fun RV life can be.”
Despite having only a small amount of time to dedicate to her rental business, Linda is using her time wisely and recently signed up for RV repair classes. “I signed up for classes to maintain my RV in the best shape possible,” she tells us. “I hope to keep the RV out of the shop for things that I can take care of, saving on the expense of repairs. I will also be able to troubleshoot issues for my renters more effectively.”
We think this was an incredibly wise move, and Linda seems to think so as well. “[Check out] the website for NRVTA.COM. They list the classes and schedules,” she shares in case others might want to do the same. “They are very proactive about teaching and the class was taught very well.”
