I rented Chris's 2017 Forrest River Salem Cruise from 26-30 May 2023 for my son and family and I set up my camper at the same park for a family camping trip over the Memorial Day weekend. There were two major problems with Chris's trailer that nearly ruined my family vacation. The first problem was the temperature in Chris's trailer was hotter than the outside temperature for the entire day and didn't cool off to be comfortable until late in the evening-as soon as the sun was shinning on the trailer, the AC couldn't keep up with the heat gain, the inside temperature increased making the trailer unusable for 16hrs of the day.The second problem was the toilet foot valve was leaking profusely both directly onto the floor and into the bowl. We had to use our personal bath towels to try and contain the water and we had to flush the toilet every couple of hours to prevent the toilet from overflowing. The leak was so bad that the water eventually soaked the flooring, went through the trailer frame and was dripping from the bottom of the trailer. Eventually there was a musty oder in the trailer.I told Chris about the problems, he came to the park on Sunday and attempted to fix the problems. His attempt to fix the toilet leak was unsuccessful and it looked to me that the leak was made even worse.Chris had no solution for the AC and hot trailer. We had a long conversation about the AC problem and we had a message exchange in the Outdoorsy message service. It was clear to me after these conversations that Chris knew full and well that the AC wouldn't keep the trailer comfortable. He mentioned that last summer his family stayed in the trailer for an extended time and the trailer was so hot that he sprayed water on it in a futile attempt to cool it. He mentioned that he asked an RV dealership tech about the AC problem. With the rental he included a mini (5inx5inx6in), cheap, (and ineffective) cooling unit as his "solution" to the known AC problem. He stated that "It doesn't like the florida heat". He even lamented that he should take the AC unit out of his other trailer located in Georgia and put it in this trailer. I could go on...I asked Chris for a partial refund and he returned $50, less than 10% of the amount I paid outdoorsy for this rental. I told him that given the severity of the problems and the fact that the trailer was unusable 16hr per day he should refund more money. It has been 4 days since Chris last contacted me about this matter.Chris tried to minimize his trailer problems by saying, "...but the camper was used and you didn't have me come and get it..." This statement illustrates Chris's callousness suggesting that I cancel my family vacation, disappoint my 5-year old grandson all because he rented a severely defective trailer. I was forced to salvage a bad situation that I believe Chris knowingly caused. Is this the kind of person that you will trust with your family vacation?Chris should have never rented this trailer to me and you risk your family vacation if you rent it from him you risk ruining your family vacation.
