2010 Nissan Caravan
Location:
Kygo lives in Richmond, 15 minutes away from Nelson airport. If you’re driving your own car, it can be parked on the street in front of the property. Kygo may also be able to be brought to a convenient Nelson location for pick-up/drop-off by arrangement.
In The Cab:
3 seats in cab up front (2 with 3-point seat belts and centre seat with lap belt)
Kitchen Area:
Kygo has great layout with a space efficient L-shaped kitchen providing lots of storage, along with a lovely timber countertop and generous sink with hand pump tap. There’s a 30L thermo-electric chilly bin stored under the sofa which slides out on runners. And for cooking, Kygo has a 2-burner camping stove (with 2kg gas bottle) and all the essential utensils, pots, pans, knives, crockery and cutlery etc.
Dining/Living/Sleeping Area:
Kygo has an internal height of 1.6m – so standing room if you’re on the shorter side! The clever design features a plush sofa which converts into a bed and a long run of storage cabinets. Kygo’s bed measures 120cm x 200cm which is slightly narrower than a standard double bed… but it’s super comfy and cosy. He is insulated and has lightweight curtains but for extra privacy and security there are tinted windows.
There is plenty of storage space overhead and under the bed (accessed from the rear). We advise to bring foldable suitcases as the access to the storage is 50 by 40 cm and doesn’t allow for big suitcases. Otherwise the suitcase can be stored at the owners.
Note: we list bedding and towels as Extras at the booking stage in case guests prefer to bring their own.
Water Facilities:
Like all Quirky Campers in NZ, Kygo is certified self-contained and green stickered for freedom camping. There are removable 25 litre fresh and grey water tanks, and the toilet is stored in a cupboard on runners to be pulled out for use.
Electrical/Lighting and Audio Equipment:
Kygo has a leisure battery charged via the engine when driving, LED lights and an inverter with USB sockets for charging devices.
Type of Heating:
Insulated but no other heating besides cab heater.
Outside:
Kygo has two drop-in/drop-down tables integrated into his design for dining or cooking. Camping chairs, and a solar shower pack are available as optional extras… as well as an awesome inflatable stand-up paddle board and life-jacket (all subject to availability).
Conversion Story:
After searching the internet for a converted van that fulfilled my wishes, I ended up with a complete wishlist for what my perfect van would look like. With the mental support of my brother overseas, I put my skills to use and build my dream castle on wheels. Kygo means born to protect and he has done that for me for the last two years exploring New Zealand. There are some really cool features, like an attic for all your quick to grab clothes, a slide out fridge which is most of the time out of sight, out of mind and an eye-catching ceiling that gives a feeling of space and serenity inside, while looking outside - Daisy x
